Control of afterbody vortices from a slanted-base cylinder using sweeping jets

In this paper, a sweeping jet is applied to control the afterbody vortices behind slanted-base cylinder for first time at Reynolds numbers from 87 000 200 000. The effects are examined using stereo particle image velocimetry and surface pressure measurements with momentum coefficient (C ? ) varying 0.056 0.893. It found that results in increasingly diffused larger as C increases. While an increase up 0.167 leads reduction circulation of their earlier detachment slanted base, further introduces additional vorticity into leading higher vortex strength, which could be detrimental purpose. interaction mechanism jets lies turbulence injected intersects these subsequently causes diffusion velocity gradient vortices, weakens strength. This also detach themselves endplate resulting shorter low-pressure footprint on surface.
